Our Story
Beginning of a journey
The Highland Weigh was inspired by a small change: switching to a bamboo toothbrush. In January 2022, we envisioned a zero-waste store offering plastic-free products and a welcoming space for the community.

Breaking ground
In September 2022, we began renovating our space at 3b High Street, Nairn. We stripped out the old shop unit and redesigned it to create a welcoming space that embodies our zero-waste mission.

The big day
November 2022 marked an exciting milestone for us as we opened our doors for the first time. The community came out to explore our vision for a zero-waste lifestyle. It was a wonderful start to our journey with The Highland Weigh.

Shaping our vision
In August 2023, we kicked off our first Climate Café, engaging the community in meaningful discussions on climate action. The event was a great success, inspiring conversations and connections focused on sustainability.

Making a difference
By July 2024, we had saved 45,000 pieces of plastic since opening, thanks to our plastic-free products and the support of our customers. This milestone highlights our shared commitment to sustainability.

A nod to our efforts
In August 2024, we were honoured to be shortlisted for the VIBES Award and the Social Enterprise Scotland One to Watch Award. These nominations recognise our dedication to sustainability and community impact.
